Government House,
Hongkong,
26th April,
No. 17881
CONFIDENTIAL
1908 MAY 09.
In reply to Your Honour's letter of the 14th instant, I have the honour to point out that my letter of the 8th instant stated that the correspondence in question was transmitted to the Secretary of State because it formed a continuation of previous correspondence with regard to the status of the Registrar of Supreme Court and that the passages near the end of my letter of the 8th instant and in paragraph 2 of my letter of the 29th ultimo (which is, I presume, the "former letter" to which Your Honour alludes) referred to the desire expressed in paragraph 2 of your letter of the 16th of last January that the question of the status of the Registrar should be submitted to the Secretary of State for re-consideration.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your Honour's most obedient servant,
S.) F.D. Lugard,
Governor.
His Honour
The Chief Justice.
